Start Smart

The goal of the Tiny Tots program at CYA is to prepare children, ages 4 and 5, for kindergarten--socially and academically. The program focuses on:

•  Reading readiness

•  Coordination and fine motor skills

•  Social Skills

Children develop reading readiness through story time and story telling.

Motor skills are developed through exercise and play.

Social skills are developed by classroom experience and practices which emphasize courtesy to others.

The Tiny Tots program at CYA has been directed by Mrs. Gretchen Stiehl for over two decades. Her impact on children has been remarkable. In fact, the Tiny Tots is now enrolling the children of program "graduates." Parents are enrolling a second generation of kids in the Tiny Tots program because they want their children to have a healthy start in life--the same healthy start that they got at CYA.

Since seeing is believing, we encourage parents to visit CYA and observe. All preschool programs are not the same. To schedule an observation, please call us at 412-621-3342.

5 Promises Print E-mail

5 Promises

To help kids succeed in life, CYA strives to fullfil the five promises articulated by America's Promise Alliance. They are:

• A healthy start
• A safe place to be with structured activities
• An ongoing relationship with a caring adult
• A marketable skill through effective education
• An opportunity to give back through community service

In addition to the nurturing that CYA's Camp R and Tiny Tots Programs provide, CYA works closely with the Boy Scouts of America.

Scouting mission--to help young people make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes--is a strong complement to CYA's own philosophies and programs.

For more information about Scouting at CYA please call 412-621-3342.
